The paper titled “The mini SLR: a low-budget, high-performance satellite laser ranging ground station,” nominated by DLR was awarded as the best publication in the field of space technology research. The Best Paper Award is organised and funded by the Association of European Space Research Establishments (ESRE).
The winners received their awards on Tuesday, December 3rd, in Prague during a gala evening organized by the Czech Aerospace Research Centre (VZLU) as part of its ESRE presidency.

The evaluation criteria for the award included originality, scientific quality, clarity, and alignment with European programs that support research and innovation in the space sector.
ESRE President and VZLU Director General, Josef Kašpar, highlighted the significance of the Czech organization’s presidency, stating, “It is a great honor and responsibility. At the same time, it is also an opportunity to further contribute to the development of the space sector in Europe.”
ESRE brings together institutions focused on research, development, and testing in the space industry, significantly promoting cooperation across European countries.
