The company SERENUM, which was originally engaged in the development of space equipment within the Czech Aerospace Research Centre (VZLU), is being transformed into a commercially oriented company that will primarily offer space equipment developed at VZLU. The subsidiary is also moving to Brno, where it will benefit from synergies with the VZLU offices and the local space ecosystem.
“The portfolio of space equipment developed at VZLU is growing and therefore we have been searching for ways how to commercialize the results of our research and development. In the end, we decided that the best way will be to transform our subsidiary SERENUM from a development company to a commercial company. ” explains Josef Kašpar, CEO of VZLU.
Product portfolio of SERENUM SPACE includes CubeSat subsystems, such as frames, reaction wheels, software, as well as the complete CubeSat 1-3U platforms. Most of the products from the portfolio were used on the VZLUSAT-1 and GRBAlpha missions and can therefore prove its flight heritage, which is essential for commercial success. Other devices will be verified on board VZLUSAT-2, which is scheduled to be launched this winter.
“At the same time, it will be possible to buy a place for your equipment on one of our satellites and thus participate in a space mission without having to build an entire satellite or fulfill complex technical and legislative requirements.” Adds Ondrej Sluka, Director of SERENUM SPACE.
In addition to space verified products, SERENUM SPACE will also offer services benefiting from VZLU’s technical base, such as space hardware testing. At the same time, SERENUM SPACE will offer a wide portfolio of services related to space consultancy and custom software and hardware development.
