The partial objective of the DKRVO concept for this area is: “Developing knowledge and creating tools and solutions in the field of aeromechanics with applicability in the field of aerospace, road vehicles and rolling stock.”
Aeromechanics is a fundamental aviation discipline, but at the same time it is a major source for diversification of VZLU scientific and research activities into other industrial sectors.
Aeromechanics is an appropriate tool for solving and improving efficiency, energy consumption, safety, and the utility of both ground and air vehicles that interact with the flowing air. The flow of air can also be influenced by various means and utilized to have a positive effect on the structure or the running / flying qualities.
In the area of aeromechanics, the following five research objectives have been set out for the five year period resulting in specific technical and patented solutions.
Partial objectives:
- Development of tools and solutions for active flow control to improve the aerodynamic efficiency of transport vehicles.
- Development of tools and solutions to increase efficiency and safety in the field of inside aerodynamics of transport vehicles.
- Development of calculation tools for aeroservoelasticity and flutter and tools for aeromechanical “coupling” analysis.
- Design of advanced aerodynamic concepts of regional and small commercial aircraft.
- Creating of an interactive TEN-T and VRT wind map.
