Airbus Helicopters’ Racer demonstrator has performed its first flight. The aircraft flew for about 30 minutes, allowing the flight test team to check its overall behavior.
VZLU participated in the development of Racer by cooperating in the design and production of a hybrid composite structure of the engine hood and main rotor head cowling. High-speed helicopter is based on the previous helicopter demonstrator X3, built under the CS29 regulation base.
This important milestone launches the two-year flight campaign, aiming to progressively open the aircraft’s flight envelope and demonstrate its high-speed capabilities. Racer was developed in the framework of the European Research Clean Sky 2 project.
