In Brussels, our team presented the project (AVIATION RESEARCH ECOSYSTEM ADVANCED NOVEL APPROACH) that focuses on Horizon Europe’s call topic: Aviation research synergies between Horizon Europe, AZEA, and National programs. The project is coordinated by VZLU and has 15 participants from 14 European countries and 1 from the United Kingdom.
The AREANA project aims to address the call for “Aviation research synergies between Horizon Europe, AZEA and National programs” by working on three interconnected and distinct parts. Firstly, it will work towards improving the coordination of aviation funding programs by supporting synergies between European, National, and Regional R&I aviation programs. This will facilitate joint calls or co-funding mechanisms to align EU, National, and Regional activities in specific fields and accelerate the update and sharing of aviation technology infrastructures in the European Research Area.
Secondly, the project will prepare for the upcoming Aerodays, which will take place during the first half of 2025 in Warsaw, Poland, coinciding with the Polish presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Lastly, the project aims to direct support of AZEA (Alliance for Zero Emission Aviation) activities by performing an analysis and survey on the current state and planned R&I for hydrogen and electric aviation technology in Europe and associated countries, working on synergies identification of the hydrogen strategies of the consortium member governments and developing scenarios and models how to deploy zero-emission aviation.
